Sgt Peter Allan
About me

I work on a number of important projects for West Sussex Division including the roll out of Community Resolution, improving how we deal with anti-social behaviour, setting up Street Watch and making the most of Special Constables.

I joined Sussex Police in 1989 and served as both a response and community beat officer at Shoreham, Lancing and Worthing before being promoted in 1996. As a sergeant I have worked in the areas of custody, tutoring of new recruits and response policing at a number of stations across the coastal strip of West Sussex.

I was posted to Littlehampton in 2000 and stayed there for 10 years. The bulk of my time at Littlehampton was spent working in communities, working together with them, partners and colleagues to reduce crime and disorder and increase confidence and satisfaction. I really enjoyed my time at Littlehampton, and am proud of the many solid partnership results that were achieved to improve the lives of our communities.

It was with that solid base in Neighbourhood Policing that I took on the exciting new role of Community Engagement Sergeant for West Downs in October 2010 - West Sussex since the Divisional merger in April 2011.

Through my involvement in pieces of work, such as community resolution, anti social behaviour, information sharing, neighbourhood policing review, Street Watch and Special Constables, I have been able to support districts, as front line deliverers of a truly community based Neighbourhood Policing model, that with local officers, working with local people to identify and solve local issues together has achieved amazing results which my blog will explain in more detail.
